The Cost of This Job
Eighteen miles is the drive from our Prosper shop to Highland Village, and that's the number that shapes how a cable call here actually works. It's not a same-block job - the truck has to cross most of the service area to get to you, so when you call, tell us up front which side of the house the cable let go on and whether the door is stuck open, stuck shut, or hanging crooked on one side. That saves a second trip for the wrong part.
A single frayed or snapped cable on a standard torsion setup is usually a shorter visit than a full spring-and-cable job, but the price depends on whether one cable failed or both, whether the drum took damage, and whether the door came off track when the cable let go. We don't quote a number blind over the phone - a cable that's frayed but holding is a different job than one that's already snapped and dropped the door on a bent track. We'll give you a real number once the tech has eyes on it, not before.
We can't promise a same-day slot from this distance the way we might closer to Prosper. If your door is down and won't close, say so when you call - that changes how we route the day.
Parts We Carry
For a job this far out, we stock the cable sizes and drum fittings that match houses of this age before we leave Prosper - we're not driving back for a part on an 18-mile round trip. That covers standard 1/8-inch and 7x19 galvanized cables in the lengths that fit doors from the early-1990s build era, along with the drum and end-fitting hardware that pairs with them.
What we don't stock on the truck is anything custom - a cable cut to a nonstandard length for a door that's been modified, or hardware for a brand that stopped making replacement parts years ago. If your door falls into that category, we'll tell you on site rather than guess, and we'll be straight about whether it's worth sourcing the part or whether replacing the door section makes more sense at that point. That's a judgment call, not a policy, and it depends on the door in front of us.
Booking a Visit
Call and tell us you're in Highland Village so we can route the day around the drive. Because we're coming from Prosper, we ask for a window rather than a fixed time - traffic on the way out is the variable, not our schedule. Tell us what the door is doing: cable snapped and door down, cable frayed but door still moving, or door off track on one side. That's enough for us to load the right cable and drum stock before we leave.
We don't keep a branch or standing crew in Highland Village - every visit here starts as a dispatch from Prosper, and that's worth knowing before you book so you're not expecting a walk-in counter.
